Approach death and dying with dignity & control. Make your dying days peaceful
Death and dying is a fact of life. It is something that many people are afraid of, and an area of life over which we have little control. The aim of this site is to help you, the dying person, and those of you who are helping a loved one through death and dying to become informed and make choices about how you want the last days to be.
If you have recently been informed that you are dying, then the resources on this site will help you to make decisions about how you live the remaining few weeks or months. You can review the section on care facilities to decide where and how you wish to be cared for during the last days, and you can discuss these with your loved ones so that they fully support your choices.
Of course there will be physical and emotional challenges, and we have resources to help you understand, anticipate and plan
ahead of time what you wish to happen. Pain management, and the stages of bereavement and dying are covered in detail, and
there is a section covering how to say goodbye to those you love, along with practical advice on legal and financial matters as well as funeral arrangements.
Finally there is a section on the afterlife, and the various beliefs surrounding this subject. Perhaps this is something you
have not given a great deal of thought to up until now, or perhaps you are firm in your own beliefs. Either way the section on the afterlife will have something to pique your interest, confirm and support your own beliefs, and provide much food for thought.
I have gathered the information from many sources, including my own experience of 32 years as a nurse to provide you with a
detailed one-stop resource site. Many fear death thinking it will be pain racked and distressing, yet in most cases it can be
a beautiful experience, and I feel very privileged to have sat with families as their loved one passes.
Bereavement, grief and loss Bereavement and you.The dying person will grieve as much as their loved ones, understand the process and share ideas about saying goodbye
